Lecture 8: Cell Division — Mitosis & Meiosis
During mitosis, a single parent cell undergoes nuclear division to produce two genetically identical daughter cells. This process is critical for organismal growth, tissue repair, and asexual reproduction in eukaryotes.
Diploid (2n) → [Mitosis] → 2× Diploid (2n)
The cell cycle consists of interphase followed by the mitotic phase (M phase). During interphase, the cell grows and replicates its DNA in preparation for division.
